WoW Forever Early Name Reservation

I rented a two-bedroom single-family home near the downtown district. Although I had a complete spare room, including a desk, I had it in my head that an elevated laptop on a cafe-style bistro table was the perfect start to my Warcraft gaming experience.

I had played Everquest and had fallen out of love with it. The game was fun, but I had a hard time finding an emotional connection with it. I knew it had a competitor, some massive cartoony MMORPG.

It was after work, and the updates were finally done. I had the next day off and I started around 7pm. I remember getting soda and snacks, and taking a few bathroom breaks (trust me, that matters). The next time I saw the sun through the window, it was 6am the next morning. I was totally hooked and had lost all track of time without even realizing it.

I grabbed a few coworkers, and we started a guild. We had raiding “careers” and held “interviews” for guild members. Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King became part-time jobs.

I’ve watched former guildies graduate, get married, start families, go to war…

It’s been a long journey

Eventually we all “grew up.” Some stayed for the long-haul and others like myself came and went. I will confess… every expansion since Mist of Pandaria has pissed me off. I keep coming back looking for that first night.

So I have high hopes for WoW Forever.

Today was the 1st day that I launched the game. While I enjoyed watching the video drops, and player reactions, I understandably wanted to wait. I want to feel that same magic I felt years ago.

AND WE ARE BACK!

To launch day queues and spamming “reconnect” over and over again. It’s been so long since I have seen Warcraft experience this that I am super excited for what is to come.

Have you reserved your name yet? Until then here’s how my experience went:
